West of Memphis Hosts CD Release Event for New Album "Honey Pie."

SAN DIEGO – Blues band, West Of Memphis, is very proud to announce the release of their new CD, "Honey Pie." The band will celebrate the CD release with a special premiere at the House of Blues San Diego on Friday, June 22 at 6 p.m. It will feature special performances from the band with tracks from their album as well as a heady mix of blues classics.

Thereafter, the band will take its celebrations to the North County with CD release parties and performances at Friars Folly  in San Marcos on June 23 and Carvers Steak and Chop in Rancho Bernardo on June 28.

"Honey Pie," recorded at the Griffintown Cafe in Montreal, Canada and produced under the watchful eye of producer Bharath Rajakumar, contains 14 tracks of authentic American blues music, including numbers penned by West Of Memphis co-founders Tom Walpole and Karl Cabbage. Other tracks include two titles authored by Blues savant Geoff "the Guru" Starin and a selection of genuine blues favorites.

According to band manager and "Honey Pie" executive producer Dick Palmer, "This CD surpasses the award nominated debut album by far. This is the real deal."

Both "Honey Pie" and the SDMA award nominated "Monkey Business" will be available at all West Of Memphis shows beginning with the CD Release party at House of Blues San Diego. It will also be available for purchase at the band's website,, at the House of Blues San Diego gift shop, and at other online and traditional music retailers beginning June 22, 2007.

West of Memphis has been plying the Blues trade in and around San Diego since its founding in 1999 by Harmonicist Karl Cabbage and Guitarist Tom Walpole. Supported by an array of able sidemen, Cabbage and Walpole have succeeded in keeping the vision of the project – playing high quality and authentic American blues music – on course. The band has not succumbed to market pressures that would have the band lazily following the road well traveled.

In 2006, West of Memphis released their debut album, "Monkey Business." "Monkey Business" earned the band a San Diego Music Awards nomination for Best Blues Album 2006. In 2007, at the invitation of Canadian Bluesman and Harmonicist extraordinaire, Bharath Rajakumar, the band headed north to Montreal in Canada to record the follow up album "Honey Pie." Early reviews on the latest effort have been glowing. "Honey Pie" will be released on June 22, 2007. West of Memphis can currently be seen every Friday night at the House of Blue San Diego from 6 to 10 p.m.
